Accessibility Statement for Holton Primary School

Holton Primary School is committed to ensuring that our website and all aspects of school life are accessible to all learners, parents, carers and visitors. We actively promote equality of opportunity and aim to eliminate discrimination in line with the Equality Act 2010 and Welsh Government guidance on improving access for disabled pupils.

We strive to create a fully inclusive environment in which every individual can participate, achieve and feel valued, regardless of ability or additional need.

Our Commitment to Accessibility

We aim to improve accessibility across three key areas:

  • Access to the curriculum – ensuring all learners, including those with disabilities, can fully participate in teaching, learning and school life

  • The physical environment – enhancing our facilities to enable access to buildings, services and resources

  • Access to information – ensuring information is available in formats that meet the needs of all users

These priorities reflect national expectations for schools in Wales to plan for increasing access over time.

Website Accessibility

This website is run by Holton Primary School and supported by Innovative IT Solutions. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this site. For example, users should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts

  • zoom in up to 400% without loss of functionality

  • navigate most of the website using only a keyboard

  • navigate using speech recognition software

  • listen to content using screen readers (including JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We aim to ensure our content is clear and easy to understand and will continue to improve accessibility wherever possible.

An accessibility widget is available to support users, enabling:

  • text highlighting and reading support

  • dyslexia-friendly font options

  • adjustable spacing and layout controls

  • colour and contrast adjustments

  • reading guide and cursor enhancements

The website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 standards.

Known Limitations

We recognise that some parts of this website are not yet fully accessible. For example:

  • some colour combinations may not meet contrast standards

  • some documents may not fully meet accessibility requirements

  • some hyperlinks may rely on colour alone for identification

  • some images may contain text that is not fully accessible

We are actively working to address these issues as part of our ongoing accessibility planning.

If you require information in a different format (e.g. large print, audio, simplified text or another language), please contact us. We will consider all requests and respond within 5 working days.
